Garde Services along with our Cable Partner Taihan are currently undergoing works on TransGrid’s Powering Sydney’s Future Project after being awarded the contract last year. We are progressing well with more than half of the cabling work now completed.
The Powering Sydney’s Future transmission cable project involves:
- Construction of 330kV underground cables between TransGrid’s Rookwood Road substation at Potts Hill and the Beaconsfield West substation Alexandria, replacing aging underground cables which are now reaching the end of their serviceable life.
- Upgrades to three substations at Potts Hill, Alexandria, and Picnic Point, to help meet the city’s future energy needs.
Garde’s scope of works on the 20km Powering Sydney’s Future Project includes trenching, installing conduits, construction of joint bays and cable installation along with underground drilling to cross rail corridors, waterways, and several major roads. Bridges are also being constructed as part of the project to cross railways. Additional conduits are being installed so there is space for a second cable to be added in the future as demand increases.
Our dedicated and professional competent team of Project Management, Civil Crews, Traffic Control and Community Relations are working on the job along with the communities and stakeholders to deliver the project in both a timely and safe manner while minimizing the project impacts.
Once complete the Powering Sydney’s Future project will help ensure a safe, reliable, and affordable electricity supply for Sydney’s CBD and surrounding areas.
